The Hidden Power Behind Your Energy (and How It Shapes Your Life)
Everything is energy, and energy vibrates. Those vibrations set the tone for how we feel, what we attract, and how we move through life. Think of it like a ladder—at the top, we find joy, gratitude, love, and peace. These vibrations feel light, expansive, and freeing. As we move down the ladder, we step into heavier vibrations—anger, resentment, fear, and despair. Those feelings carry weight, and they call in more of the same.
Like attracts like. When we’re steeped in gratitude, we tend to notice more blessings. When we’re stuck in anger, it seems like frustration meets us at every corner. One of the simplest ways to shift vibrations is through choice: the music we play, the shows we watch, the words we speak, and the people we spend time with. Put on a joyful song, move your body, step into laughter—it immediately raises the vibration.
I’ve had to make these choices myself. For a while, I noticed that spending too much time on a certain social media outlet left me feeling heavy. The endless cycle of revenge dramas, political chaos, and negativity pulled me down to a level that felt dangerous for my energy. So, I pressed pause and stepped away for now. The moment I did, I felt the difference—lighter, freer, more in control of my vibration.
Then something unexpected happened. After just five days away from the noise, I could finally hear the whispers of my own soul again. And the whisper was clear: Quilt.
I’m a quilter, and quilting has always been a deep source of joy and creativity for me. Yet since our move in 2020, I hadn’t found the space or the spark to set it up again. It felt complicated, and I just never quite made it happen. Until now. This weekend, my husband and I spent about four hours setting up the perfect quilting corner for me. And when I sat down to begin again, I felt something shift.
Quilting has filled me with joy. I wake up differently. I have more energy, more excitement, and a renewed sense of happiness. By stepping away from what drained me, I opened space for what truly nourishes me.
Signs Your Energy Is Slipping
Low vibration doesn’t always show up dramatically—it often sneaks in quietly. It might look like:
Feeling drained no matter how much rest you get
Being unusually irritable, impatient, or reactive
Struggling to find joy in things you normally love
Feeling weighed down by hopelessness, worry, or “what’s the point” thinking
Getting stuck in cycles of comparison, drama, or negativity
These are not failures—they’re signals. They’re little nudges from your energy field telling you it’s time to reset and rise higher.
How to Raise Your Vibration
Shifting your energy doesn’t have to be complicated. Small, intentional choices can make a big difference:
Music & Movement: Dance, stretch, or sing out loud—your body naturally responds to rhythm and joy.
Gratitude: Pause and name three things you’re grateful for right now. Gratitude lifts energy instantly.
Laughter: Watch something funny, call a friend who makes you smile, or play with a child or pet.
Nature: Step outside, breathe deeply, feel the sun, or put your hands on a tree.
Creative Expression: Pick up a hobby, craft, or practice that lights you up—it reconnects you with joy.
Silence & Stillness: Sometimes the fastest way up is simply to pause, breathe, and let your system reset.
Checking Vibrations: A Simple Practice
Everything around you either adds to your vibration or drains it. To check, ask yourself these questions after an activity, event, or interaction:
Do I feel lighter or heavier?
Do I feel more hopeful or more hopeless?
Do I feel energized or exhausted?
Do I feel closer to peace or pulled toward chaos?
Your body knows the answer before your mind catches up. If something consistently leaves you feeling heavy, it’s lowering your vibration. That’s your signal to step back, make changes, or simply say no.
Why It Matters
Our vibrations shape the quality of our days and ripple into the lives of those around us. When we choose higher vibrations, we’re not ignoring reality—we’re choosing to meet it with more strength, clarity, and light.
This week, I invite you to pause and notice: What raises you? What lowers you? And what shift is your energy quietly asking for right now?
